Title: Accounting Analyst 

Location:     Washington, D.C.
Salary:         Competitive salary and benefits package based on qualifications; classified as full-time    salaried; exempt and not eligible for overtime.
Reports to:  Clodagh Foley, Accounting Manager 

Position Overview 

At Tuckernuck, finances are the fuel that keeps our company moving. We’re looking for a qualified Accounting Analyst to keep our company and budgets on track with unwavering accuracy. The most successful candidate will have a natural passion for math, and a strong understanding of the intricacies of financial transactions within an organization. This person will play an enormously important supportive role, keeping our company’s financial outlook bright with precision and proactive measures.

Core Responsibilities

The Accounting Analyst is responsible for the following areas: 

  • Allocate payments which affects inventory and operating expenses including:
      • All payments to inventory vendors
      • All freight bills for the cost of shipping and/or clearing inventory
      • Operating expenses for marketing, travel, store and general expenses 
  • Proper accounting for costs by purchase order 
      • Work with the Private Label team to ensure all costs have been captured through invoices for accurate product costing. 
      • Ensure that inventory received matches inventory paid for on the invoice. Work with vendors to correct any discrepancies. 
  • Cash Management
    • Review the bank statement daily and ensure that all items are entered timely into Quickbooks.
    • Sales Audit management for Ecommerce and retail store. This includes the following:
      • Review credit card settlements on a weekly basis to ensure all batches settled.
      • Reconcile return credits issues with returns received
      • Work with credit card processor to recover any chargeback disputes.
    • Annually prepare the 1099 forms for appropriate vendors.
  • Month End Close
    • Enter all financial transactions such as bank fees, merchant fees, and transfers.
    • Close Accounts Payable and disbursements. Work with all departments to make sure that we are receiving invoices and expense reports in a timely manner to ensure accurate reporting.  Review the Aged Trial Balance and reconcile to the GL.
    • Prepare preliminary monthly journal entries for review by the Accounting Manager
    • Reconcile bank statements for cash accounts including the general disbursement account and others


  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient knowledge of accrual accounting. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Quickbooks. 
  • The maturity to deal with sensitive information professionally. 
  • Ability to perform a high volume of transactions accurately with limited supervision. 
  • Comfort in dealing with new technology and systems.
